Gears of War creator’s other shooter, LawBreakers, returns thanks to modders

In recent months, there has been some chatter around the shutdown 2017 shooter LawBreakers and a potential revival. While the game's creator, Cliff Bleszinski had hoped to find a new publishing partner to take on the game and bring it back to life, that hasn't panned out. In the meantime, a group of modders are doing the job instead.

LawBreakers launched in 2017, one year after Overwatch, looking to capitalise on the emerging hero shooter genre of multiplayer shooters. The game launched for PC and PS4, but failed to garner much of an audience. By September 2018, the game was shut down and the studio that created it also went under.

Now, the RELB Project has been revealed. This has been in the works since around 2020, with a small group of modders looking to restore the game and make it playable once again. Like other similar game revivals, this all works by using a fake launcher, which accesses private servers, rather than the game's official servers and login services. Once you are in though, it should play exactly like the original game did all those years ago.

LawBreakers creator, Cliff Bleszinski, has already given his blessing for the project to remain going. So if you happen to be yearning to play some LawBreakers, then the revival project mod can be found, HERE.
