Valorant open beta now live on Xbox Series X/S and PS5

Riot Games has been working away on Valorant for a couple of years now, securing a top spot as one of the most-played competitive shooters on PC. As of today, the game is now also freely available to play on consoles, including the Xbox Series X/S and PS5.

While we initially thought this would be the game's launch, it is still in beta. However, no invites are required to play anymore, so all Xbox Series X/S and PS5 owners are free to download the game right now.

The open beta includes access to everything you need to get a feel for the core Valorant experience. The game has quickly become one of the most popular on PC, rivalling the likes of Counter-Strike, Rainbow Six Siege and Overwatch. It has also made a fortune for Riot in skin sales, which there are plenty of.

If the console beta is anything like the PC beta, there may be some brief downtime between the end of the beta and the final launch version going live but the wait shouldn't be long.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
