Helldivers 2: Escalation of Freedom is the game’s biggest update yet

The Helldivers team made the wise decision to slow down the release cadence for new War Bonds (battle pass) a while ago after shipping one every month since launch. Now thanks to that extra time, the studio has been able to put together their biggest update yet.

Helldivers 2: Escalation of Freedom has been announced. This major update, which drops in August, will offer players a variety of new content for both veterans and newcomers alike.

The big focal point here is a new ‘Super Helldive', in which players will go up against a supersized fortress heavily guarded by bots. This won't be an easy mission to get through either, as it is the first mission in the game to feature the new Combat Rating 10 difficulty level. Previously, CR9 was the highest available difficulty.

Arrowhead is also sprucing up the other missions in the game, adding in new objectives to create more mission variety for returning players. A few new enemies types are also coming to the game, including The Impaler, a returning monster from the original Helldivers game, as well as a new Spore Charger and a Terminid Alpha Commander. On the Automaton side, players can expect to encounter new Rocket Tanks.

A new map biome is also being added, so if you ever wanted to bring democracy to the creepiest looking swamps in the galaxy, this will be your opportunity.

The Escalation of Freedom update will be free for all Helldivers 2 players, starting on the 6th of August.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
