The Division Heartland has reportedly gone through “significant changes”

Announced all the way back in 2021, we have heard very little about Ubisoft's upcoming free-to-play The Division spin-off ‘Heartland’. With how quiet the team has been, many fans wondered whether the game was outright canned. Fortunately, it seems as though this is not the case – though the final product might be quite different from what you were expecting.

As reported by known industry insider Tom Henderson via Twitter “I've seen a lot of people wondering if The Division Heartland has been canned or not – it hasn't, but it has gone through some significant changes since we last heard about it. Will report more after I pindown more details.”

For the uninitiated, The Division Heartland was announced as a free-to-play spin-off of the series, taking players to the fictional town of Silver Creek in rural America. The game is intended to have two modes.

Storm Operations will be a PvPvE experience for up to 45 players, in which you must “fend off against agents from a rogue faction known as the Vultures while surviving a virus.”

The second announced mode was Excursion Operations – a PvE mode where players will “complete missions and collect loot/gear.”

More details were shared during the game’s early days, but considering the fact that Ubisoft have significantly changed Heartland since we last saw it, who knows what the final product will entail.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
