Akira Toriyama’s Sand Land now has a free demo on PC, Xbox and PlayStation

Last year, Bandai Namco surprised us all with the announcement of Sand Land, a new game based on Akira Toriyama's short, 1-volume manga. Fans were immediately drawn in at the sight of Toriyama's distinctive character designs, and now, we can try the game out for ourselves thanks to a free demo. 

A demo for Sand Land is now available on PC, Xbox and PlayStation, allowing players to explore a portion of the map with characters Rao, Beelzebub and Thief, each of which have their own unique skills.

The full gsame will release on April 26th, promising an action-packed adventure in the desert. As an action RPG, players will also have lots of customisation options, including upgradeable weapons and an upgradeable vehicle.

The game's release comes at a sad time, as Akira Toriyama unfortunately passed away earlier this month. Toriyama was best known for the Dragon Ball manga, but he was also heavily involved with games like Dragon Quest and Chrono Trigger, alongside many other projects.

Sand Land originally released as a manga in the early 2000s. The 14 chapter-long series was published in the weekly Shonen Jump magazine in Japan, before being collected into a single book. A film adaptation of the series released last year and soon, a new anime series based on the manga will debut.

KitGuru Says: I've always been a huge Dragon Ball fan, having discovered the series in my childhood. Toriyama's art style eventually drew me towards games like Dragon Quest. I'm looking forward to checking this game out, although I may hold off on the demo and wait for the full release next month. Are any of you planning on picking up Sand Land when it drops?
