Netflix is developing a AAA multi platform shooter according to job listings

Netflix has slowly but surely been getting into the video games market. Following their initial push into the mobile gaming sector, we have seen the streaming service branch out into publishing more and more games on multiple platforms. The company seems to be taking another step in this direction, with a AAA multi-platform shooter said to be currently in development.

As reported by the publication Gamesual, a new job listing by Netflix for a ‘Senior Gameplay Engineer – AI’ details the fact that the streaming service is working on the aforementioned title, saying “We’re looking for a creative, highly-skilled Senior Gameplay AI Engineer to help us build a brand-new, AAA, multi-platform game.”

The listing included a few more details on this unknown game, including the fact that it will be “action” focused; multiplayer in nature; likely run on Unreal Engine; and may even come to as-of-yet unreleased game platforms.

Further inferences suggest that the game could be connected to a Netflix original film or series, with one of the job responsibilities for the role of ‘Game Director’ stating that the candidate will “Develop the world/characters/narrative that are worthy of a Netflix film/TV series.”

Other ancillary details reveal that the project will likely either be a 3rd or 1st person shooter and will feature “both cooperative and competitive” elements.

Netflix has been gearing up for a big push into the gaming world for a while now, and so it will be interesting to see what exactly this unannounced project ends up being – and just how large-scale plans are for its future.
