Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising to get Switch 2 port alongside major update in September

The Nintendo Switch family of systems have been home to many different fighting game releases, seeing ports for all sorts from Mortal Kombat 1 to Dragon Ball FighterZ and beyond. Joining the roster is another Arc System Works title, with Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising officially coming to Switch 2 alongside a major update.

Making the official announcement during Evo, the teams at CyGames and Arc System Works unveiled Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising – Id. Set to arrive on the 17th of September, this major update (listed as patch 2.6) will bring with it the following:

  • New playable DLC character ‘Id’
  • New stage ‘Ainsteddo Archipelago’
  • A new system mechanic
  • Balance adjustments for several characters
  • And more…

While exciting to see, by far the biggest part of the announcement came in the confirmation that GBVSR will be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 on the same day as the update: the 17th of September.

As of now, no pricing details have been provided. That being said, the game can currently be had for just under £12 on Steam (typically £39.99).

Either way, just as with all other versions of the game, expect Granblue Fantasy: Versus Rising to offer a Free Edition on Switch 2, allowing you to experience a decent amount of the game without needing to commit.
