Take-Two plan to release 7 “remakes, remasters and platform extensions” over the next few years

As a publisher, Take-Two have found great success via a number of avenues, whether it be through the release of annual sports titles or their once-a-decade launches of a brand new Grand Theft Auto. As such, while some of their future plans are clear, others have been kept close to their chest. According to the publisher, Take-Two have over half a dozen “remakes, remasters and platform extensions” planned to release between now and FY2029.

As part of the company’s latest fiscal earnings report, publisher Take-Two have detailed their next few years worth of releases. Alongside many expected arrivals such as a new NBA 2K and the hotly-anticipated GTA VI, Take-Two teased that they have many different mystery projects in the works, including “6 remakes, remasters, and platform extensions” planned for release between FY2028 and FY2029.

Interestingly, they also noted elsewhere (as collated by ResetEra user RandomlyRandom67) that they expect to launch 7 remakes, remasters, and platform extensions in FY27-FY29 – meaning one of these 7 should be coming within the year.

What this title will be is unknown, but some possibilities include the previously-announced Max Payne remake. Alternatively, this could be referring to a current-gen remaster for Red Dead Redemption 2. Released back in 2018, the late-8th-gen title never received any current-gen enhancements, still operating at a checkerboarded 4K and 30fps. As such, finally getting a proper current-gen version of Rockstar’s previous swan song would be welcome indeed. Unfortunately, we will have to wait and see what these remasters actually wind up being.

KitGuru says: What do you think of Take-Two’s plans for the next few years? What do you think the first remaster will be for? Will we get a current-gen Red Dead Redemption 2 upgrade before GTA VI? Let us know down below.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
