8GHz Intel Core i9-14900KF runs Counter-Strike 2 at over 1300 FPS

One of Intel's primary marketing promises for the 14th Gen Core series was its overclocking capabilities. It didn't take long to prove that wasn't just marketing, as overlockers were quick to set a new 9.04 GHz world record for the fastest frequency ever reached on a consumer chip. Now, another impressive overclocking result has come through, with an 8GHz Core i9 pushing Counter-Strike 2 to astonishingly high frame rates. 

The Australian OC team (via Tom's Hardware) installed a discrete GPU (most likely an RTX 4090) and combined it with the newest Core i9-14900KF CPU. After overclocking the processor to 8GHz across all P-cores, the system was able to run Counter-Strike 2 at over 1300 frames per second.

To make matters even more fascinating, Roger Chandler, VP and GM of the Enthusiast PC and Workstation segment at Intel, was tasked with filling the pot with liquid nitrogen. It's worth remembering that Roger was the one who first revealed the new Intel 14th Generation Core series. This was no static demo or benchmark run; it was a live, real-time gaming experience. In fact, one of the guests actively engaged in the game during the presentation, scoring several kills in the process.

The Core i9-14900KF delivering Counter-Strike 2 frame rates beyond 1,300 FPS wasn't the only standout at SXSW Sydney 2023. The team also set a new DDR5 world record, pushing Gigabyte's DDR5-8333 16GB RAM module to DDR5-11618. Unlike the Counter-Strike 2 record, the machine was unstable, with the overclockers experiencing a BSOD immediately after reaching the frequency. Still, they had enough time to submit the result to HWbot to make the new DDR5 overclocking world record official.
