Star Wars Jedi: Survivor patch adds DLSS and true 60FPS performance mode for consoles

When Star Wars Jedi: Survivor launched earlier this year, it arrived with a few performance issues. These were most notable on PC but as I noted at launch, the next-gen console version wasn't holding up super well either. The game's performance mode was consistently under 60FPS, leading to constant screen tearing. Now with the game's seventh major patch, that should finally change.

This week's update for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor includes improvements to both the quality and performance modes of the game on Xbox Series X/S and PS5. The biggest upgrade comes to the performance mode, which should now actually run at 60FPS. In fact, the press release we received claims that it is a “solid 60FPS”, so screen tearing issues should be a thing of the past and players should find the combat to be more responsive, assuming the frame rate holds steady.

Those using Nvidia RTX GPUs will also get access to a new feature, as Jedi Survivor will now have DLSS available. Beyond that, Respawn has implemented other performance and optimisation improvements on PC, so overall, the game should run much better now compared to launch.

Here are the full patch notes:

  • Performance mode has been completely reworked to substantially improve player experience.
  • A number of GPU and CPU optimizations – along with disabling Ray Tracing – has resulted in a better player experience, including a solid 60 FPS in Performance mode.
  • Quality Mode has also received optimizations to help reduce FPS fluctuation and introduce other visual improvements.
  • Variable Refresh Rate support added for PS5
  • Additional performance & optimization improvements for PC, including DLSS support.
  • Save system tweaks to help prevent save game corruption
  • Fixed issues where players could not retrieve their XP after dying under certain circumstances.
  • Various crash fixes
  • Various bug fixes & improvements across all platforms, including fixes for cloth, lighting, and UI.

The patch is now available across all platforms. It should be noted that while you can play the game at 60FPS on current-gen consoles, all cutscenes are still locked to 30FPS.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
