Corsair launches MP700 PCIe 5.0 SSD promising up to 10,000MB/s speeds

Back in January, Corsair accidentally revealed a few details about its flagship MP700 PCIe Gen5 M.2 SSD. The SSD promised to deliver faster performance than many options currently on the market, and now, it is finally ready for an official launch.

Following on from January's leak, today Corsair is officially launching the new MP700 SSD. Available in capacities up to 2TB, the MP700 promises strong PCIe Gen 5 performance, including up to 10,000MB/s read/write speeds. On top of the impressive sequential throughput, the SSD also has good random read/write performance of up to 1.5 million IOPS.

If the SSD is capable of hitting those speeds, then it will be roughly 40 percent faster than even the best PCIe 4.0 SSDs. However, as a PCIe 5 SSD, Corsair does recommend additional cooling, either via a motherboard's integrated M.2 cooling solution, or with a custom solution, like the Corsair Hydro X series M.2 water block.

The Corsair MP700 SSD is available as of today, priced at £169.99 for the 1TB version and £279.99 for the 2TB version.
