Outriders has still not made a profit

Outriders came and went pretty quickly following its release back in 2021, with the Square Enix game reported to have not made a profit as of 2022. Cut to one year later and the game has seemingly still not managed to make its money back.

As discovered by TweakTown, Outriders developers People Can Fly revealed as part of a recent investor relations page that they have yet to receive any royalties for their work on Outriders.

For the uninitiated, Square Enix made a deal with People Can Fly wherein the studio would receive royalties for the game once it had broken even. In revealing that they have yet to receive any royalties, the team essentially confirmed that Outriders still has not made a profit more than two years later.

While Outriders did not set the world on fire, it was generally well-received by players. That said, it is entirely possible that the title coming day-one onto Xbox Game Pass did not help in this matter.

Regardless of the reasons, hopefully People Can Fly are able to recoup some royalties from the game eventually.
