Sony has spent years trying to force new live‑service games into its first‑party lineup, leading to short‑lived projects like Concord and cancelled multiplayer spin‑offs for God of War and The Last of Us. Now, Sony finally appears to be turning its multiplayer efforts toward a franchise that actually makes sense - Killzone.

Due to a “lack of communication from the Publisher”, People Can Fly have announced the cancellation of two of its projects.

Back in 2023, Bulletstorm developers People Can Fly announced that they were working on a game with Microsoft known as Project Maverick. Following this, the studio revealed that they are also assisting The Coalition with development on Gear of War: E-Day. Though not explicitly stated at the time, the team has now confirmed that Project Maverick was in fact Gear of War: E-Day.

In a surprise announcement, People Can Fly has entered into an agreement with Sony – set to work on one of the console maker’s existing IPs.
