Microsoft is raising the price of the Xbox Series X console and Game Pass subscriptions

Months ago, Sony raised the price of the PS5 console in many countries, citing inflation and the global economy. Now, Microsoft is following in those footsteps, announcing plans to raise the price of the Xbox Series X console in many parts of the world.

The price hike will come into effect in August, bringing the Series X up from £449.99 in the UK to £479.99. The Xbox Series S price will not change. Microsoft also recently began adopting the new $70 price standard for new-gen games, with Redfall being the first. Future games like Starfield will also launch at $70.

Alongside the Xbox Series X price bump, Microsoft has also announced the first pricing change to Game Pass. From the 6th of July, the price of an Xbox Game Pass (console) subscription will rise from £7.99 to £8.99, but the Game Pass for PC subscription will remain unaffected.

If you use Xbox Game Pass Ultimate instead, then your subscription will also get a little more expensive, rising from £10.99 per month to £12.99 per month.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
