Nvidia launches new RTX 5880 Ada workstation graphics cards

Nvidia has recently announced a new workstation desktop GPU, the RTX 5880 Ada. This release is a response to the U.S. export limitations that restrict the shipment of the flagship RTX 6000 ADA GPU to certain countries, including China. However, contrary to the RTX 4090D, the new workstation card will be available worldwide.

With the introduction of the RTX 5880 ADA, NVIDIA has provided a solution with lower specifications that still meet the performance requirements imposed by these limitations. This new graphics card features a reduced AD102 GPU with 14080 CUDA cores, representing a 22% decrease compared to the RTX 6000 ADA. As a result, the Tensor core count has also fallen from 568 to 440. Despite these reductions, the card still offers impressive single-precision computation capability, with an official rating of 69.3 TFLOPS.

Like the RTX 6000 ADA, this GPU supports video encoding and decoding functionality. It features a dual-slot design with a blower-style cooling system. The memory specs remain unaffected, meaning it comes with 48 GB of GDDR6 memory on a 384-bit interface, providing a maximum bandwidth of 960 GB/s. The board power of 285W shows a 15W decrease compared to the bigger RTX 6000 Ada.

Nvidia has officially launched the RTX 5880 ADA, and orders are now being taken.

KitGuru says: If the RTX 5880 Ada will be available worldwide, then there may be a chance the 4090D makes its way to other regions too.
