Konami devs discuss Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater

One of the biggest surprises at the PlayStation Showcase was the announcement of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater – a remake of the iconic PS2 game from Hideo Kojima. That said, all we have seen so far is a CG teaser trailer offering little in the way of information. Fortunately, the developers have now come out to answer many of the fans’ most pertinent questions.

In an interview conducted by IGN, the publication spoke to the Konami devs behind Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. One of the first questions asked was whether Kojima is involved in the project. Unsurprisingly, the team confirmed that he is not. Likewise, series artist Yoji Shinkawa will not return for this remake.

No specific studio was named as being responsible for the remake, leading fans to wonder who is actually involved in this project. Asking this very question, the team responded to IGN claiming that the central role has been handed to internal Konami developers who have been “involved in the production of the past [games in the] Metal Gear series” – with Virtuos assisting development.

When asked about the remake’s name change, a spokesperson stated “The Delta symbol (Δ) was chosen because its meaning fits the concept of the remake project. Delta is a character from the Greek alphabet that means ‘change’ or ‘difference’ in mathematics and variables, and also has the meaning of changing an amount without changing the structure.”

Based on what has been said it seems as though Konami are going for a faithful remake of MGS3, not wanting to mess with Kojima’s work. Hopefully we get to see actual gameplay sooner rather than later.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
