Benchmark leak gives an early look at the RX 7900 XTX VS the RTX 4080

In less than a week, AMD will be releasing the Radeon RX 7900 series to the public. However, there are samples out in the wild and actively being tested. As a result, two benchmark entries have been found, giving us an early look at performance.

The two entries shared by Benchleaks (1, 2) show Radeon RX 7900 XTX Vulkan and OpenCL performance using Geekbench. The system was running Windows 11 and featured an Asus ROG Crosshair X670E Extreme motherboard with a Ryzen 7 7700X and 32GB of DDR5-6000 memory.

In the Geekbench Vulkan entry, the Radeon RX 7000 series flagship scored 179,579 points, beating the average RTX 4080 by about 15% (scores range between 150K and 155K points). In the OpenCL test, however, the Radeon RX 7900 XTX (228,647 points) is around 10% slower than the RTX 4080 (~255K points).

The AMD RX 7900 XT and RX 7900 XTX will launch next week, so expect to see plenty more benchmarks and performance comparisons then.

KitGuru says: There's a lot we don't know about these benchmarked systems, including driver versions, clock speeds and other important details for fair comparison. With that in mind, do take these results with a grain of salt, but we won't have to wait long to see more results from full reviews.
