Discord is finally increasing the standard file upload size limit

If you're an avid user of Discord, you've most likely found yourself trying to share a file with someone and couldn't because of the tiny 8MB size limit. That should now happen less often, as Discord has increased the upload file size limit from 8 MB to 25 MB.

Discord has recently announced via Twitter that it is expanding its file size limit from 8MB to 25MB for all its users, which includes non-Nitro and Nitro Basic subscribers. The new file size limit is live, so you can start sharing bigger files immediately.

With Discord's expanding user base, the company is introducing quality-of-life improvements for its users, and this file size limit increase is just the beginning. The update will benefit nearly 196 million active users who can now easily upload larger files to share between friends or on servers.

However, if you're looking to share even larger files, you can upgrade to Nitro Basic for a minimal fee of $3, which allows 50MB uploads. For $10 a month, Nitro users can take advantage of 500MB uploads and other exclusive features such as 4K video streaming and increased emoji variety. Moreover, Discord has also announced the implementation of soundboards in voice channels and calls, which will roll out in the coming weeks.
