A Plague Tale: Requiem surpasses 1 million players

Back in mid-October, the much anticipated ‘A Plague Tale: Requiem’ finally released across PlayStation, Xbox and PC (with a cloud version available on Switch). Two weeks on from the game’s release, publisher Focus Entertainment have revealed that the game has surpassed 1 million players.

Making the announcement on Twitter, the official Focus Entertainment page revealed that “More than one million players have already embarked on an incredible journey with Amicia and Hugo in #APlagueTaleRequiem. Thank you so much!”

The first game in the series – A Plague Tale: Innocence – became a surprise hit following its release back in 2019, with the stealth thriller title going on to sell over 1 million units a year later.

A Plague Tale: Requiem reaching as many people in two weeks as the first game did in one year is impressive indeed, however it is worth noting that Requiem is available on Xbox Game Pass, meaning not all 1 million players necessarily translates to 1 million copies sold.

Still, the adoption towards A Plague Tale: Requiem is exciting, especially for a series with such relatively humble roots. Hopefully Requiem continues to impress.
