Corsair accidentally reveals the MP700, the company’s first PCIe 5.0 SSD

As the PCIe 5.0 SSD era approaches, storage drive manufacturers have started to reveal their first products. It looks like Corsair will soon be launching the MP700, as details of the upcoming SSD leaked this week.

As reported by Overclock3D, Corsair posted a video announcing its first PCIe 5.0 SSD, the MP700, on its YouTube channel this week. However, shortly after going live, it was made private, suggesting that the video was not supposed to be public yet. While the video was taken down, some of the details within were noted down and shared.

Corsair's upcoming PCIe 5.0 NVMe 2.0 SSD will offer sequential read speeds of up to 10,000MB/s and write speeds of up to 9,500MB/s. That's about 40% faster than Corsair's current flagship PCIe 4.0 SSD. It's known that the MP700 will pack 3D TLC NAND modules and, like most consumer-oriented SSDs, it will come in the 2280 form factor.

The SSD will come with a large aluminium heatsink with an integrated SSD fan to prevent it from throttling, but you should be able to remove it if you'd prefer to use your motherboard's own SSD heatsink. As of now, pricing and availability details are unknown.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
