New BIOS for AMD X670E boards improves Ryzen 9 7950X performance

The Ryzen 9 7950X hasn't released yet, so there is still some work being done on the software side to optimise the chip's capabilities. We've already seen a few benchmarks for this processor, but a new BIOS update has seemingly boosted single and multi-threaded performance. 

While AMD says that the Ryzen 9 7950X should score 2275 points in Geekbench, early benchmarks we've seen so far have not matched that. However, a new entry entry found by APISAK does manage to hit that score, reaching 2,279 points in the single-threaded benchmark and around 25K points in multi-core performance. Overall, the most recent BIOS improved performance by about 3 percent compared to previous results we've seen.

As a note, the system was running a Gigabyte X670E Aorus Master motherboard equipped with 32GB of DDR5-6000 memory. During the test, the CPU peaked at 5.75GHz, just 0.05GHz below the announced boost clock frequency.

The AMD Ryzen 7000 series processors will become available next week. The initial line-up will include the Ryzen 9 7950X tested above, as well as the Ryzen 9 7900X, Ryzen 7 7700X, and Ryzen 5 7600X.
