Nexus Mods addresses ‘frustrating’ traffic issues following spike in Fallout players

The past week has seen hundreds of thousands of people returning to the Fallout games. Many of those revisiting the games on PC are keen to use mods, which has led to a problematic traffic spike for Nexus Mods, which has had to apologise to users for issues.

The Fallout TV show was very well received by fans, which has led to many of the Fallout games seeing a huge rise in players across PC and consoles. Fallout 4 was the best selling game in Europe in the week following the TV shows' release.

Unfortunately, not everyone was ready to handle this spike in interest. While Nexus Mods typically sees a good amount of traffic usually as one of the most popular platforms for mods across many games, the recent interest in Fallout mods has caused problems.

“We are aware that over the last seven to nine days our website performance has been heavily degraded, with file download speeds being particularly slow,” a Nexus Mods blog post reads. “We know this has been incredibly frustrating for you and it's frustrating for us as well. We have spent two weekends battling to keep the site running as best we can and will continue to work at all hours to try and ensure as smooth an experience as possible.”

There is no timeline for when things may return to normal, but it may be worth searching other platforms for mods if you are having problems with Nexus at the moment. Chances are, things will settle down eventually.
