God of War Ragnarök has the best UK launch in franchise history

It has been a few days since God of War Ragnarok officially launched for PlayStation consoles. In less than a week, the game has gone on to beat launch-week sales of all previous titles in the series and has become the fourth God of War title to top the UK charts.

The latest GfK physical game sales charts have been shared by GI.biz. God of War Ragnarok is the 13th game of the series to release in the UK territory and the fourth title to top the launch week sales chart. The other three were God of War 2, God of War 3, and God of War (2018). However, you should note Ragnarok is the first cross-gen launch game for the series as well.

According to GfK boss. Dorian Bloch. “day 1 physical sales were already greater than any other full-week launch sales for other titles in this franchise.” He also noted that this week, 55% of PS5 console sales were God of War bundles.

The achievement is not surprising considering how well the game has scored in reviews. On OpenCritic, the game has a 94% score with 98% recommendation. On Metacritic reviewer and user scores are also pretty good, sitting at 9.4 and 8.3, respectively.

SplitGate team reportedly developing a Titanfall successor

1047 Games found a ton of success back in 2019 when they released SplitGate: a fun and fast-paced arena shooter in the vein of classic Halo, while adding a twist in the form of portals which players could place around the map for strategic plays. While its sequel has failed to make the same level of splash, the team are apparently working on a brand new game – this one being inspired by Titanfall.
