Viral family console ‘Nex Playground’ is coming to the UK in June

The Nex Playground landed on many people’s radar late last year when it was revealed that the relatively unknown ‘console’ managed to outsell Xbox in the US during the Black Friday period. Already a success in the USA, the Nex Playground is officially set to make its way across the pond, with the Kinect-styled subscription-based system launching in the UK and Ireland this June.

Making the official announcement via their website, the Nex Playground team confirmed that the motion-based home console is coming to the UK following its successful holiday Season in the US.

Available to pre-order right now across various UK-based retailers, the system is planned to ship sometime in late June – though this could of course change. Initially retailing in the US for $250, the Nex Playground saw a $50 increase earlier this year as a result of rising component costs.

Unfortunately, it seems this higher price is also being reflected in the UK, with the console setting you back £269 while including “five free starter games”. As mentioned, the Nex Playground operates on a subscription-based model, and so you’ll need to cough up an additional £90 a year for their annual Play Pass which includes a “growing library of over 60+ active games.”

Clearly targeting an entirely different audience to regular consoles, it will be interesting to see whether the Nex Playground manages to find a foothold in the region; and whether it will be able to outsell the likes of the PS5, Switch 2 or Xbox.
