Discord voice chat appears to be heading to PS5 soon

Sony first announced plans to integrate Discord with PlayStation consoles all the way back in May 2021, and while Discord account linking has been added, other features like Voice Chat have yet to arrive. Xbox consoles received Discord voice chat access earlier this year, and now, it looks like PlayStation integration isn't too far behind.

Following on from reports that Discord voice chat was targeting an early 2023 rollout on PlayStation consoles, a recent update to the Discord mobile app revealed new linking options for PlayStation consoles. As discovered by Advaith on Twitter, PS5 consoles will get the ability to join voice chats and display the game you are playing, while the PS4 will be stuck with the current, basic level of account integration.

Whether or not Discord voice chat will head to PS4 at a later date has not been revealed. Presumably, the console should be able to handle something like that, but there could be technical limitations that we aren't aware of. Alternatively, this could also be a marketing move to help differentiate the PS5 and push users toward's Sony's next-gen system.

Discord Voice Chat was announced for PlayStation consoles back in 2021, shortly after Microsoft attempted to acquire Discord. Ultimately, Discord integration still came to Xbox and is currently live. Given this latest update to the Discord mobile app, we would expect Discord and Sony to begin beta testing voice chat on PlayStation consoles soon.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
