Sony announces free October PS Plus games

Each month, those with a PlayStation Plus Essentials subscription are given access to a list of ‘free’ games spanning across both PS4 and PS5 generations. For the month of October, players will be able to gain access to a number of varied releases, including the latest Hot Wheels Unleashed.

Making the announcement on the PlayStation Blog, Adam Michel, the Director of Content Acquisition & Operations at SIE, said “Today we’re happy to reveal the PlayStation Plus Monthly Games lineup for October. There’s superhuman clashes in the form of Injustice 2, big racing thrills with tiny cars in Hot Wheels Unleashed and the electrifying strategic combat of Superhot.”

The headlining title is Hot Wheels Unleashed. Offering both a PS4 and PS5 version, this arcade racing game has you “Collect, build and race in this fantastic arcade sim based on the Hot Wheels universe. Earn new vehicles then take them to the track to race side by side with friends in two-player split-screen, or face up to 12 opponents in online challenges”. If you’re feeling extra creative, you can even make your own tracks.

Injustice 2 is the latest entry in the fighting game series from Mortal Kombat studio Netherrealm, allowing you to “select from twisted versions of iconic heroes and supervillains and bring epic-scale battles to awe-inspiring locations across the globe.”

The final game being given away is Superhot, a unique first-person puzzle shooter, in which the world only moves when you do, with “no regenerating health bars. No conveniently placed ammo drops. It’s just you, outnumbered and outgunned, grabbing the weapons of fallen enemies to shoot, slice, and maneuver through a hurricane of slow-motion bullets.”

All three titles will be available to add to your library from the 4th of October until 31st.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
