AMD FSR 2.0 plugin now available for Unreal Engine 4 and Unreal Engine 5

Over the past week, AMD has been particularly focused on its upscaling technology, celebrating the 1-year anniversary of FSR and releasing FSR 2.0's source code. Now, FSR 2.0 is also available as a plugin for both Unreal Engine 4 and Unreal Engine 5, making it easier for developers to implement.

AMD often stated that FSR 2.0 is relatively easy and fast to implement, but things could be better. One way to speed things up for developers is through a plugin, which AMD has now released for Unreal Engine 4.26 and 4.27, as well as Unreal Engine 5

Developers interested in implementing AMD's upscaling tech on their games should read the company's own guide. Here, you'll find the system requirements, an explanation for the installation and configuration process, and some recommendations regarding specific visuals. For the FSR 2 plugin, you'll need the UE 4.26.2 or a more recent version (UE 5 included). As for the FSR2MovieRenderPipeline plugin, you'll need UE 4.27.2 or later, including UE 5.

Nvidia also has a DLSS 2.0 plugin available for Unreal Engine, making it easy for developers to implement both technologies if they choose.

KitGuru says: AMD has released everything it needs to for developers to quickly adopt and get up to speed with the new FSR 2.0 technology. Hopefully we'll see more games supporting FSR 2.0 at launch in late 2022 and beyond.
