The Game Awards will return this December

Geoff Keighley has been especially busy this year, having organised Summer Games Fest and currently putting the final touches on Gamescom: Opening Night Live, which airs tonight. We'll be seeing Keighley again in just a few months time, as The Game Awards are returning for 2022.

The Game Awards is Keighley's biggest show, bringing people from across the games industry together to celebrate recent releases and make exciting new game announcements. This year, The Game Awards will be a live, in-person event once again, taking place at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

This year's ceremony will have a couple of new award categories, including a new one for ‘best adaptation', to highlight video game adaptations in other forms of media, like movies. With that in mind, we can probably expect to see Sonic The Hedgehog 2 make the shortlist.

As usual, the show will have guests, musical acts, the awards show itself and new game announcements and trailers sprinkled in throughout. The event takes place on the 8th of December – exact stream times are still TBD.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
