New rumours point to lower power requirements for RTX 4070 and RTX 4080

The latest reports about the RTX 40 series bring yet another change to the rumoured specifications of these unannounced graphics cards. If true, the RTX 4070 and RTX 4080 won't use quite as much power as initially expected.

The changes in power requirements were reported by kopite7kimi, claiming that the RTX 4080's TBP (total board power) was reduced from 420W to 320W. The RTX 4070's TDP has reportedly been brought down as well, from 320W to 285W.

Moreover, @KittyYYuko has shared the details of an unnamed graphics card. This SKU would come with an AD102-250 GPU (a new variant of the GPU used on the RTX 4090) with 14,848 CUDA cores and 20GB of GDDR6X memory clocked at 21Gbps across a 320-bit memory bus. Based on the specifications, it will sit between the RTX 4090 and the RTX 4080. However, it's unclear if this is a gaming-oriented product or a workstation graphics card.

Rumours claim Nvidia will launch the first RTX 40 series graphics cards later this year.

KitGuru says: The specifications of this unknown SKU would perfectly match what most would expect from the RTX 4080 Ti, bridging the gap between the RTX 4090 and the RTX 4080. However, there's also a good chance this SKU is aimed at workstations.
