AMD’s latest graphics drivers add Noise Suppression and OpenGL optimisations

After last week's reports regarding an RTX Voice alternative from AMD, the company has now released a new AMD Software Adrenalin Edition driver with Noise Suppression. Moreover, the new driver brings new features and OpenGL optimisations to improve game performance. The biggest bump comes to Minecraft, with some GPUs seeing a 92% performance uplift. 

Like RTX Voice, AMD Noise Suppression removes any unwanted background noise using a deep learning algorithm in real-time. The technology works on both input and output devices in any AMD-powered system. To access it, download the latest AMD Software package, go to Settings, and click on the Audio & Video tab. You'll find the AMD Noise Suppression option on the Audio Settings segment. Then, you have to enable it and choose the input and output devices that will have it applied. From there, depending on which voice app you're using, you'll need to select the “AMD Streaming Audio Device” as the input/output to benefit from Noise Suppression.

The hardware and OS requirements for the technology are as follows:

• Hardware:
  • Works on AMD Ryzen 5000 Series processors with AMD Radeon RX 6000 Series graphics and newer
  • Works on AMD Ryzen 6000 Series processors with integrated graphics
  • Works on AMD Radeon RX 6000 Series desktop graphics and newer
  • Requires AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 22.7.1 and newer
  • AMD Noise Suppression may not install on systems equipped with Realtek ACP-based ANR
• OS:
  • Windows 10
  • Windows 11

Besides AMD Noise Suppression, this driver update also brings new OpenGL  optimisations, improving performance in games like Minecraft by up to 92%. The driver also improves Radeon Super Resolution compatibility, and adds Valorant, Elden Ring and Resident Evil Village to the list of Radeon Boost supported titles.
