Far Cry 6 is crossing over with Stranger Things

The Stranger Things TV series is no ‘stranger’ to crossovers and video games, with the franchise already making an appearance in Fortnite, as well as getting its own game (which is now part of Netflix’s push for original gaming content). Interestingly, Ubisoft has now announced a free Far Cry 6 x Stranger Things crossover event.

Announced in alignment with its free weekend (live right now through March 27), Far Cry 6 is crossing over with the 80s-themed Netflix hit series Stranger Things. Titled ‘The Vanishing’, this crossover mission is said to bring “a stealth-horror-survivor gameplay experience to Far Cry players for the first time with mysterious characters and new lore.”

Offering additional details, Ubisoft revealed that “In The Vanishing, players enter a twisted version of Yara inspired by the Upside-Down, and Dani discovers that Yarans are disappearing and no one is safe – not even Chorizo. Players can explore recreations of iconic Stranger Things-inspired locations, such as a hidden bunker and an abandoned laboratory.”

Ubisoft’s treatment of single-player focused games in recent years has been interesting. The rising popularity of live-service titles has pushed Ubisoft to translate many of their previously one-and-done games into continually updated experiences.

Though few may have been asking for this, free is free, and so fans of Far Cry and Stranger Things can check out the crossover right now.
