AMD’s RX 6000 series may get faster with memory refresh

At CES 2022, AMD announced two refreshed Radeon RX 6000 mobile GPU series, but there was no mention of new desktop graphics cards aside from the RX 6500 XT. However, a new report claims that, like the mobile series, the desktop Radeon RX 6000 SKUs are set to be refreshed, possibly featuring 18Gbps GDDR6 memory.

This rumour was first shared by @greymon55, who unfortunately can't confirm any details at this time. However, we can assume a thing or two, based on what we've learned from AMD's announcement of the new mobile GPUs at CES 2022.

AMD seems to be preparing a new version of the RX 6000 series, I don't know the details, maybe an upgrade to 18Gbps?

Like @greymon55 mentioned, the refreshed Radeon RX 6000 series desktop may come with 18Gbps GDDR6 memory, as the RX 6850M XT will do. Moreover, considering the Radeon RX 6500XT and the RX 640 are based on the TSMC N6 node, we'd expect any new Radeon RX 6000 series SKUs will probably use that same node, possibly resulting in higher GPU clock speeds, too.

A desktop refresh of the Navi 2x GPUs was first mentioned in December 2021. Back then, rumours claimed these refreshed GPUs would complete the upcoming Radeon RX 7000 series lineup, but it seems we'll get them earlier than initially thought.
