Blizzard is working on a survival game for PC and console

Blizzard is mostly known for its pillar franchises and less so for new IP, but that doesn't mean the studio isn't experimenting with new ideas behind the scenes. This week, Blizzard revealed that it is working on a survival game for consoles and PC.

The “unannounced survival game” for consoles and PC has two public pieces of concept art already, one of which you can see below. This gives us a small hint at what to expect. This game will be a brand new IP, so it won't be tied into any of Blizzard's on-going sci-fi or fantasy franchises.

The two artworks shared with the announcement vary considerably in style and elements. One of these artworks has two young individuals that look like they've found an entrance into a new world. The other has what seems to be an experienced hunter in a crouching/kneeling position, tracking magical footsteps that lead to a mirror in a demolished structure.

We don't know how advanced this game's development is, but according to Mike Ybarra, head of Blizzard Entertainment, the game is already playable.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
