Street Fighter 6 will likely be revealed next year

Street Fighter is one of the most iconic video game franchises of all time, with Street Fighter 2 in particular informing much of the industry’s trajectory during the early 1990s. While Street Fighter V did not achieve the same level of universal fanfare, the game has had a healthy 5 years on the market. It seems Capcom is ready to move on soon to the next major entry: Street Fighter 6.

As part of the most recent Street Fighter V update video – where the team showcased the final character being added to the game – Street Fighter V’s Director Takayuki Nakayama and Producer Shuhei Matsumoto teased the future of the franchise.

Near the end of the video, Nakayama talks directly to the fans, saying “For us, SFV has been a project with peaks and valleys, but thanks to our fans, we've been able to accomplish what we aimed for.”

He continued “We, the development team, will use this experience as a springboard to move on to the next project!” adding that “While this is the end of this digital showcase series for SFV, this is more of a ‘see you soon' rather than a ‘goodbye.'

They concluded by teasing that “we look forward to providing you more information next year!” heavily suggesting that Street Fighter VI will be revealed in 2022. While Street Fighter V had a rocky start, the game slowly but surely improved – concluding the game’s development in a positive light. Even so, it is exciting to see what the team at Capcom are able to do with new hardware, new ideas and a whole new game. Luckily we don’t have to wait too long to find out.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
