Google teases ‘surprise’ for next week

Google has always been experimental with its marketing, from revealing phones prior to its announcement, to announcing a phone only by confirming that the unannounced phone’s purported cancellation was false. The search engine giant has now sent out an email to its fans saying “You're invited to Google's Birthday party.”

In an email to those subscribed to their mailing list, Google sent a cryptic message titled “You're invited to Google's Birthday party” to which they then continued to tease by saying “It’s our birthday, so we got you a present. Come back on 27/09/2021 to see what's in store. You never know what you might find.”

While very little can be gleaned from this teaser, the Google Store header does seem to suggest that this surprise is related to the search giant’s online shop, which will be hosting a 24 hour long sale on that day.

The international teaser has provided slightly more details, revealing that this ‘surprise’ is related to the upcoming Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, which will be releasing in mid-October.

As with many of Google’s events and announcements, this email will likely have ended up overhyping what is a simple bonus discount or a free Google Home mini with every order – or something similar. Still, surprises can be good, and so it is worth checking your emails on the 27th of September; Google’s generosity may surprise you.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
