Call of Duty to get new anti-cheat, 50,000 Warzone cheaters banned this week

Raven Software has been banning tens of thousands of cheaters from Call of Duty: Warzone on a very regular basis lately. Just ahead of the new season, another 50,000 accounts were banned and better yet, new anti-cheat software is also being worked on.

As of March 2020, over 500,000 cheaters had been banned from Warzone, although since then, at least 100,000 more accounts have been banned, including the 50,000 banned this week. The studio revealed this on Twitter, adding that “more importantly, we are listening and hard at work behind the scenes”.

As reported by VGC, reputable leaker, Tom Henderson, has stated that Activision is working on a new anti-cheat system for future Call of Duty games. This has been in development for over a year and will debut with Call of Duty: Vanguard later this year.

As you would expect, this same anti-cheat system will also carry over to Call of Duty: Warzone, although exactly how effective this new system will be still remains to be seen.

KitGuru Says: Cheaters have been poking holes in Call of Duty's anti-cheat system for years, but perhaps we'll finally have something robust. This is particularly important now, as cross-play between consoles and PC becomes more popular.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
