Samsung Exynos with RDNA 2 graphics scores higher than any other phone in 3DMark Wild Life

As we learned recently, Samsung is currently building a new Exynos mobile processor with integrated RDNA 2 graphics in collaboration with AMD. The chip has yet to be officially unveiled, but a new 3DMark Wild Life benchmark has revealed high levels of performance, beating out any other phone on the market by a decent margin.

The score was shared by Ice universe, showing a result of 8134 points in the Wild Life test. As per the leaker, the SoC CPU was based on ARM's Cortex A77 core architecture, but Samsung may pair RDNA 2 graphics with other ARM core architectures.

The 8134 score is about 47% higher than the Exynos 2100, Samsung's best-scorer in 3DMark Wild Life. The highest-rated phone is the iPhone 12 Mini, but with a score of 7671, Samsung's new Exynos/RDNA chip turns in a result roughly six percent better than the Apple A14 chip.

Although it beats every phone currently on the market, it's still far from reaching the highest-performing tablets, mostly consisting of Apple devices using Bionic and M1 chips. The new Samsung SoC is almost enough to match the Apple iPad Air (2020), which scored 8507 points, but it is a long way from catching up to the 2021 iPad Pro, which has a score of over 17,000 points.

KitGuru says: Based on these results, the new Samsung Exynos SoC seems quite promising. Although this result can still be improved by using a different core architecture, it's already enough to beat the best phones on the market comfortably.
