Discord acquires Sentropy Technologies

Earlier this year, talks of Discord being acquired began to emerge. Eventually, the company decided to remain independent, but took on a large investment from Sony. Now, Discord is putting that money to use through an acquisition of its own.

Discord has acquired Sentropy Technologies, a company specialising in AI-powered filtering tools. The tool, Sentropy Protect, monitors online networks for abuse and can filter out messages. These independent tools will now be shutting down, as Sentropy joins Discord, the company confirmed in a Medium post.

We don't know how much the deal was worth, but under Discord the company will expand the app's trust and safety capabilities, which, as pointed out by The Verge, has been a “key priority” for Discord.

This follows on from an investment in Discord from Sony, the company is also partnering with PlayStation to bring the app to the console and improve its social features.

KitGuru Says: Discord has been making a lot of noise so far this year. Now we'll just have to wait and see what comes from this latest acquisition.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
