Resident Evil Village sold three million copies at launch

We already knew that Resident Evil Village was off to a great start on PC, having accumulated over 100,000 concurrent players at launch on Steam alone. Now, we have total launch window sales for the game across all platforms.

Today, Capcom announced that Resident Evil Village has sold 3 million units worldwide over its launch weekend, a number that includes copies sold on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4 and PS5. Thanks to the success of RE Village, the Resident Evil series has sold over 100 million copies in total.

Resident Evil Village is the eighth main entry to the series, acting as a direct sequel to Resident Evil 7, which has sold over 8.5 million copies since launch. While Resident Evil 7's action sequences were mainly reserved for boss fights, Resident Evil Village has more of a focus on action gameplay.

Resident Evil Village will be expanded later this year with a multiplayer mode, Re:Verse, to celebrate the series' 25th anniversary. If you are interested in seeing how Resident Evil Village runs on PC across a range of graphics cards, then you can check out our performance analysis, HERE.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
