EK launches special edition Vector waterblock for Nvidia RTX 3080 FE GPUs

EKWB has released a special edition waterblock compatible with the Nvidia RTX 3080 Founders Edition graphics card. Available in both silver and black, the EK-Quantum Vector FE RTX 3080 D-RGB waterblocks come with two types of connection terminals and feature a significantly larger fin area compared to other Vector waterblocks.

According to EK, the Quantum Vector FE RTX 3080 D-RGB waterblocks are “the most complex GPU cooling solution” developed by the company due to the small size and shape of the RTX 3080 FE's PCB. Made of thick copper for increased cooling capacity and cover all the PCB components, these waterblocks use EK's largest cooling engine ever built.

The EK-Quantum Vector FE RTX 3080 D-RGB waterblocks are “CNC-machined without mass-production techniques” from a 12mm thick piece of electrolytic copper. After this process, the block is nickel plated to improve its cooling efficiency. On the other hand, the top is CNC-machined out of a glass-like cast acrylic material and the outer shell is made of a 20mm thick aluminium, which is then anodized in silver or black. The single-slot I/O shield included in the packaging comes with special screws to uniformly distribute the weight.

These waterblocks come with two sets of connection terminals included for increased versatility: one terminal has two G1/4″ ports on the side, while the other has four G1/4″ ports passing through the block. The new design employed in these blocks allows the terminal to be directly attached to the copper cold plate, resulting in a sturdier construction.

These RTX 3080 waterblocks were designed to cool the graphics cards' critical components directly (GPU, VRAM, VRM) and reduce the chance of coil whine and instabilities. The built-in Open Split-Flow engine allows you to use them even with weaker pumps thanks to their low hydraulic flow restriction.

The black Quantum Vector FE RTX 3080 D-RGB waterblock comes with a silver backplate, while the silver Quantum Vector FE RTX 3080 D-RGB waterblock features a black backplate. Both have a “ribbed” design to increase the surface area, delivering improved passive cooling.

The EK-Quantum Vector FE RTX 3080 D-RGB waterblocks are available for pre-order now, priced at €269.90. You can learn more about them HERE (black) and HERE (silver).

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
