Seagate FireCuda Gaming 1TB External SSD Review

Rating: 8.0.

Seagate's FireCuda Gaming SSD is a pocket-sized external SSD based around a Seagate FireCuda NVMe drive and features a USB 3.2 Gen 2 x2 (20Gb/s) interface and a customisable RGB LED feature.

Just three capacities make up the FireCuda Gaming SSD range; 500GB, 1TB (the drive we are reviewing) and the flagship 2TB unit. At the heart of the drive sits a Seagate FireCuda 510 NVMe SSD along with an ASMedia bridging IC. The FireCuda 510 uses a rebranded Phison PS5012 8-channel controller and Toshiba BiCS3 64-layer 3D TLC NAND. Seagate quote Sequential performance for all three drives as up to 2,000MB/s for both read and writes.

The drive also features customisable RGB LED lighting, which is controlled through the Seagate Toolkit software utility.

Seagate back the FireCuda Gaming SSD with a 5-year warranty.
