AMD Radeon RX 6800XT 3DMark results show it beating the RTX 3080

Following the leak of the RTX 3070 3DMark results, multiple sources got hold of the 3DMark scores of the Radeon RX 6800 XT. Ranging from Fire Strike benchmarks to Time Spy, the Radeon RX 6800 XT beats the RTX 3080 in 3 out of 6 benchmarks, offering fairly similar performance in two, and losing in the ray-tracing-centric Port Royal.

The 3DMark scores of the Radeon RX 6800 XT come from Igor'sLab, Wccftech, and @KittyYYuko (aka Kitty Corgi). There is not much difference in the scores across all three sources, leading us to believe that they shouldn't be far from the final results.

Starting with Igor's results, he claimed that this data comes from two board partners that use both AMD and NVIDIA GPUs, like MSI, Gigabyte, and Asus. Wccftech's leak had a similar structure to Igor's, including both percental and score differences. Yuko Yoshida claimed that the scores he shared were of an engineering sample of a Navi 21XT-based card, which features 80 CUs, and not 72 like previously leaks suggested.

The following table puts all the scores from the different sources together for better visualisation and compares it with the RTX 3080 (values from the sources and @harukaze5719). Both 1440p benchmarks may not be a fair comparison because we don't know the CPU configuration of the system running the Radeon RX 6800 XT. We assume that the rest of the benchmarks were running on equivalent systems for comparison purposes.

Benchmark Igor’sLAB Wccftech Yuko Yoshida RTX 3080 Average vs RTX 3080
Fire Strike Extreme (1440p) N/D N/D 24200 19404 124%
Fire Strike Extreme 4K 13066 N/D N/D 10688 122%
Fire Strike Ultra 4K N/D 12871 12800 10531 122%
Time Spy (1440p) N/D N/D 16700 16939 98%
Time Spy Extreme 4K 8232 8230 8000 7978 102%
Port Royal 4K 4438 4387 N/D 5383 82%

These results seem quite promising for the red team, with Radeon RX 6800 XT only losing to the RTX 3080 in Port Royal, which is a ray-tracing benchmark. On Time Spy scores are fairly similar, but when moving on to Fire Strike benchmarks, there's an improvement of over 20% compared to the RTX 3080. As per @harukaze5719's chart, it even beats the RTX 3090 on Fire Strike Extreme at 1440p.

AMD will officially announce its upcoming graphics cards on October 28th.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
