AMD reveals new cooler design for RX 6000 GPUs

In a surprise move last night, AMD officially unveiled the cooler design for its upcoming RX 6000 GPUs. The days of single-fan blower coolers appear to be over, with AMD opting for its own triple fan cooler design with a fairly hefty heatsink. 

AMD isn't going to fully unveil its next-gen Radeon GPUs until the 28th of October during a virtual event. However, we do have our first look at the card thanks to a teaser posted by Radeon:

Interestingly, we can also see a dual 8-pin power connector, indicating that this will be a powerful GPU, as we would expect from ‘Big Navi'. We also know that these next Radeon GPUs will be based on the RDNA 2 architecture and built using the 7nm process node.

RDNA 2 should bring a big improvement to performance per watt compared to original RDNA 1/Navi graphics cards. Unfortunately, that is all the information we have for now, but the full unveiling is just six weeks away.

KitGuru Says: Based on looks alone, AMD has seemingly done a great job of redesigning its reference cooler. Now we'll just have to wait and see how it performs in real world testing scenarios. Are many of you looking forward to the RX 6000 reveal in October?
