Hideki Kamiya assures that Bayonetta 3 has not been cancelled

It has been a long time since Bayonetta 3 was first announced for the Nintendo Switch. The first two games were swiftly brought to the console in 2018 but since then, news has been quiet, with very few updates on the status of the sequel. Some are worried the game may have been cancelled, but Hideki Kamiya wants those concerns thrown out of the window.

So far, all we've seen of Bayonetta 3 is a logo revealing teaser, which was shown at The Game Awards 2017. Given the lengthy period with no news, there is some concern over whether we'll ever see the game, but Platinum Games director, Hideki Kamiya, has some words for those people.

Speaking with Video Game Chronicle this week, Kamiya said: “I'm on Twitter so I see a lot of comments every day. I'm happy that there's still anticipation for the title, but one thing I would like to address is the trend I'm seeing which is people who are starting to ask if the game has been cancelled. I want you guys to take any concerns you have like that and throw them out the window immediately because we're still hard at work on it and it hasn't been cancelled by any means.”

Since announcing Bayonetta 3, Platinum Games has released Bayonetta 1 & 2 for Switch, as well as a brand new Nintendo exclusive ‘Astral Chain'. This year, the studio is also bringing back The Wonderful 101.

KitGuru Says: It has been a very busy few years for Platinum, especially with its recent expansion and move towards self-publishing. Hopefully we'll get some real details on Bayonetta 3 later this year.
