Assassin’s Creed Discovery Tour is available for free

With the release of both Assassin’s Creed Origins and Odyssey, Ubisoft offered players a ‘Discovery Tour’ mode. This mode allows players to roam the open world map free from any combat, replaced instead with educational commentaries on ancient Egypt and Ancient Greece respectively. Announced during the publisher’s most recent conference call, Ubisoft is now offering both Discovery Tours entirely for free on its uPlay digital store.

The Assassin’s Creed franchise is known for featuring heavily detailed and semi-realistic open worlds. As part of the development of each game, the studio conducts intense and thorough research on both the time period and location in the pursuit of offering as immersive an experience as possible.

With the two most recent entries – Origins and Odyssey – Ubisoft opted to make the most of all the knowledge learned, offering players a Discovery Tour mode where they could explore these worlds while learning facts and details about the civilisations of the games’ real-world counterparts. Described as “a virtual museum with guided tours and historical sites to discover,” the mode was available to those who owned the game, but could also be purchased standalone for £12.49.

In a welcoming move by the publisher, the standalone Discovery Tour modes for both Origins and Odyssey can now be purchased entirely for free through Ubisoft’s uPlay digital store. The promotion is running from now until the 21st of May, though once added to your library, it will remain there.

The Discovery Tour mode offered an immersive and entertaining way for people to learn about these ancient civilisations. This recent move by Ubisoft now means that even more people will have the opportunity to educate themselves and learn more about our world.
