Telltale’s The Wolf Among Us 2 is back in development

Back in 2018, the financial situation at Telltale Games went south very swiftly and despite various cutbacks and management changes, the studio ultimately shut down. Since then, another company has acquired Telltale's assets, leading to The Wolf Among Us 2 returning to development.

At The Game Awards last night, The Wolf Among Us 2 was re-announced with a new teaser trailer, which you can see below:

LCG Entertainment now owns the Telltale brand and has hired AdHoc, a new studio formed by previous Telltale developers, to revive The Wolf Among Us 2. Based on comments from people at Telltale, before the studio closed down, this game was shaping up to be the most ambitious Telltale game to date, so hopefully some of that earlier work returns here.

Nick Herman and Dennis Lenart previously directed The Wolf Among Us and will return for the sequel, as will writer Pierre Shorette and composer Jared Emerson-Johnson.

KitGuru Says: There is no release date for The Wolf Among Us 2 just yet but at least the game is officially back in development. Not only that, but the new owners of Telltale brought on key team members that were working on the game prior to cancellation, which is a great move. Hopefully we'll hear more about this one in 2020.

As suspected, the teaser campaign was a prelude to the official reveal of Divinity, the studio's first major project following Baldur's Gate 3. While the reveal was limited to a cinematic trailer, it confirms that the developer is returning to its proprietary IP.
