US retailer confirms they are no longer selling Xbox consoles

The 9th console generation has not been too kind to Xbox, with the console maker resting securely in 3rd place when it comes to console sales. Ahead of the launch of its partnered ROG Xbox Ally, major US retailer Costco has confirmed that they are no longer stocking Xbox consoles.

Users recently discovered that the US retailer Costco appeared to no longer offer any Xbox consoles for sale, with searches for the system yielding 0 results – suggesting that its absence represented more than just a stock issue.

Following this, ex-IGN alumni Destin Legarie took to Twitter to write: ‘Just called Costco about Xbox stock. I was told that they will no longer be carrying Xbox consoles. “We don’t have any plans going forward to carry an Xbox console.” Saying. It was a business decision.’

Unfortunately, the retailer did not elaborate on its “business decision”. That said, since the start of 2025, both the Xbox Series X and S have increased in price multiple times, going from $500 and $300 respectively to $650 and $400 (or even higher if you opt for more storage).

Whether these price hikes are to blame for the ‘business decision’ to no longer stock Xboxes is unknown – though it likely didn’t help. It will be interesting to see whether other retailers will follow suit; and whether Costco will stock the upcoming ROG Xbox Ally.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
