Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 officially announced for PS5 with PSVR2 support

Last week, insiders claimed that Microsoft’s Xbox console exclusive Flight Simulator 2024 would be coming to PlayStation 5 this year – more specifically November. While not quite 100% accurate, Sony has now officially announced MSFS 2024 for PS5 during its most recent State of Play presentation, with the flight sim set to arrive in early December.

Releasing a brief announcement trailer during the PlayStation State of Play, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is officially confirmed to be landing on PS5 on the 8th of December 2025.

Further details were shared via the PlayStation Blog, with Flight Simulator head Jorg Neumann confirming that the title will take advantage of the PlayStation 5 Pro.

Beyond this, and in a welcome announcement, the team also confirmed that MSFS 2024 will support PlayStation VR2 – albeit not at launch. Said to be arriving some time in 2026, “PS VR2 owners will be able to experience the entire game through their headset and Sense controllers with a free update.”

Last but certainly not least, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 will make full use of the PS5’s DualSense controller, with Neumann writing: “Adaptive triggers respond to different speeds and surface types on the ground and provide sloped resistance in the air. Communications from air traffic control (ATC) play through the controller speaker, simulating the feel of a real cockpit. Gyro controls, lightbar support, and a customizable touchpad further enhance the immersion during flight.”

In the one bit of sour news, Microsoft is once again employing its ‘Early Access’ strategy, giving Deluxe Edition owners an extra week of advanced access starting on the 3rd of December.

All that said, it is exciting to see that Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is taking full advantage of the PS5 and its many unique features. Hopefully the game won’t suffer from too many issues at launch.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
