Video of alleged PS5 Slim design leaks

Last week we got what appeared to be our first details surrounding the long-rumoured PlayStation 5 Slim, with one insider claiming the refreshed device to be just 5cm shorter than the current model. They claimed to have footage of the console itself, though did not share it. Now, the insider has returned once again, this time offering a short but substantial video showing off the yet-to-be-announced console.

As reported by PlayStation software developer and reverse engineer BwE, the upcoming PlayStation 5 Slim is said to be “about 5cm or so shorter, not much thinner” and features a “weird curve in the middle with smaller vents” adding that “the BD drive is less curved so it looks weird. Has two ugly black slits on each side of the case. Dual USB-C on the front. Stupid embossed [PlayStation Sacred Symbols] on the rear.”

Design is of course subjective, and so now BwE has returned with a short clip showcasing what they allege to be the PS5 Slim. As can be gleaned from the footage, it seems as though this new model will reintroduce the dual-textured design seen with the launch PS4 models – meaning it is partially matte, partially glossy and is separated by the aforementioned ‘ugly’ black slits.

Another source (this time hailing from a Chinese forum) posted what appears to be a promotional picture of the Slim, lending credence to this being the final design of the upcoming system.

The design of the PS5 has been polarising from the start, and so it will be interesting to see what the consensus is regarding this new model when it is eventually officially announced. Based on the increasing rate of leaks, it likely won’t be too long.
