Multiple indies delayed following Hollow Knight: Silksong announcement

While the announcement of GTA VI’s release date had many AAA developers scrambling to tailor their own launches around the upcoming juggernaut, the indie side of the industry appears to be having its own GTA VI moment. With the long-awaited release date for Hollow Knight: Silksong finally confirmed, a number of indie games have pushed back their own titles so as to not get in the way.

With Team Cherry’s long-awaited Hollow Knight: Silksong finally set to arrive on the 4th of September after more than half a decade of waiting, multiple smaller studios have responded to the impending launch of this indie juggernaut.

Releasing a tongue-in-cheek video, Devolver Digital and developers Gabe Cuzzillo; Maxi Boch and Bennet Foddy confirmed that the upcoming walking simulator Baby Steps has been pushed back slightly as a direct result of Hollow Knight: Silksong. Initially announced to be arriving on the 8th of September, Baby Steps is now instead launching on the 23rd of September.

As mentioned, multiple indie games have had their dates altered as a result of Silksong’s upcoming release – with other notable titles including Little Witch in the Woods (4th to the 15th of September); CloverPit (3rd to the 26th of September); Demonschool (3rd of September to the 11th of November) and more.

In case you missed it, Hollow Knight: Silksong is set to finally launch on the 4th of September after more than 7 years in development. Given how big of a game Hollow Knight is in the indie space, it makes sense that other games would want to carve out their own launch period free from the massive shadow of Silksong.

KitGuru Games: Predicting the Next Half a Decade of Call of Duty Releases

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) famously once said: “The three absolutes in life are death, taxes and a new Call of Duty coming out every single year”. Sure enough, the US founding father has yet to be proven wrong, with Activision and a dozen studios having ensured that come the tail-end of any given year, there will be a new COD ready to release. And so, what can we expect from the franchise later this year? What about 2027, 2028 or even 2030? By looking back at the past two decades of Call of Duty games, their trends, progression and regression, I believe I can predict the next 5 years worth of annual COD entries.
